Outputs of the OWEC:<\/span>FiSMaDiM project<\/a>- Using a novel method to augment VMS data with AIS data, maps of fishing effort within the UK EEZ are derived. These maps are used as baseline to assess the economic importance of fishing locations and summarized as Fisheries Sensitivity Index 1 and Fisheries Sensitivity Index 2 as well as context-providing layers characterizing the fishing activity of UK vessels. The indexes are provided as 3-years average (2019-2021), 5-years average (2017-2019) and 10-years average (2012-2021) using a C-square grid of 0.05x0.05 degree. Grid cells with fishing activity of 3 vessels or less have been redacted due to commercial sensitivity of the information.<\/span><\/p>
