These maps are used as baseline to assess the economic importance of fishing locations and summarized as Fisheries Sensitivity Index 1 and Fisheries Sensitivity Index 2 as well as context-providing layers characterizing the fishing activity of UK vessels. The indexes are provided as 3-years average (2019-2021), 5-years average (2017-2019) and 10-years average (2012-2021) using a C-square grid of 0.05x0.05 degree. <p><span><span>Fishing activity data was extracted from Marine Management Organization database in December 2023. Any updates and corrections afterwards were not included. Maps were based on VMS data for UK vessels and AIS data for UK and non-UK vessels when available, but include predominantly vessels above 12-metre vessel lengths. </span></span></p>
<p><b><font color='#000000'>Restrictions: </font></b></p>
<p><font color='#000000'>To comply with EU general
data protection regulations (GDPR) only grid cells containing >3 vessels can
be displayed. Only users with data sharing agreements in place can have access
to the high resolution data.</font></p>
